The purposes of our Club are:

    •    To promote sportsmanship among its members
    •    To foster the art of seamanship in the sports of racing & cruising in sail & power boats
    •    To encourage family participation in boating-related activities
    •    To stimulate a greater interest in boating among everyone in the local community
    •    To provide a medium for the exchange of boating information
    •    To assist public officials in formulating & endorsing appropriate boating safety regulations
    •    To develop a fraternal spirit & encourage member participation in Club activities

We offer a variety of membership plans to suit the needs of our prospective members!

Membership Types: 

FLAG: Boat owner & over 21 yrs of age

ASSOCIATE: Non-boat owner & over 26 yrs of age

MILITARY: Boat owner & active duty military

INTERMEDIATE: Non-boat owner & 21 – 26 yrs of age

JUNIOR: Non-boat owner & 8 – 21 yrs of age

We welcome boaters (experienced or not), former members of other yacht clubs, and those who would
like to learn and participate in our many activities, whether day sailing, racing, cruising, power-boating,
fishing or social events.

All new member applicants are required to:
♦ Have the signatures of two sponsors who are OYC members
♦ Give the names and phone numbers of two personal references (not OYC members)
♦ Attach a copy of proof of boat ownership if applying as a Flag member
♦ Present the initiation fee with the application. All current fees, initiation and dues, will be explained
by the Membership Chairperson. Initiation fees are not refundable after the Board of Directors has
accepted the new member.

Our Membership Committee evaluates membership applications and makes recommendations to the
Board for approval or denial of membership. The Committee will schedule applicants for personal
interview and orientation during the 45-day waiting period between application and potential acceptance
into membership. The application and the Committee’s recommendations are presented to the Board for
action at a subsequent monthly meeting.
