La Playa Cruise and Raft-Up

February 18, 2012 to February 20, 2012

Updated Information:

We have obtained a raft up permit under OYC's name at the La Playa Anchorage (A-1) in San Diego Bay for the Presidents Day Weekend, from Friday, February 17 at 9 AM through Tuesday the 21st at 9AM. You don't have to stay for the entire time.  We have to confirm with the SD Harbor Mooring Office within two weeks how many boats plan to attend to finalize our reservation.  We may be able to add boats after that, but they limit the number of boats and it is first come, first served. Members need to respond if they even think they want to attend with your boat name and a phone number. They want that so you can be reached by SD Harbor Police in the event of an emergency on your boat if you are not aboard. When we get a group list we will call or FAX the list to the Mooring office. Also, for first timers there is an album posted at OYC Cruisers under 'Photos' in the left column.  Click on that and in the third row there is an album containing a chart of the La Playa area and two photos of the anchorage. Of course this event is weather permitting, if it looks bad we will cancel the event and cancel our reservation. If you want to attend, but not raft up you simply call the SD Harbor Mooring Office at 619-686-6227 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting            619-686-6227     end_of_the_skype_highlighting and make your own boat's reservation.  No fee or paper is involved, just put your name on their list, it's easy.
Additional information on using the San Diego area anchorages is available at the OYC Cruiser's site under "Applications".  Sign in to Yahoo, go to the site and click on Applications in the left column, click on that then click on the link to that information. Also, for any of you that want to extend your visit San Diego you can arrive Friday morning and because it is a Holiday Weekend you don't have to be out of the anchorage until Tuesday morning at 9AM.   If you want to stay in the area longer than that call one of the local yacht clubs and reserve a "reciprocal" guest slip or make a reservation for the Glorieta Bay (A-5) Anchorage.
